The buddy programme.
Your first conference is easier with someone who has done it before. We pair new members with experienced delegates for the whole semester.
- Free for members
- One semester
- Matched by the board
01 / How it works
From sign-up to your first conference.
01
Sign up
Fill in the short form: your experience, languages and which conferences you’re interested in.
02
Get matched
The board pairs you with a buddy and sends you both an email with each other’s contact details.
03
Meet up
Have a coffee or come to a session together. Your buddy shows you how a debate runs in practice.
04
Conference
Your buddy reads your position paper and is a familiar face when you arrive at your first conference.

03 / Questions
Good to know.
When do I hear about my match?
We match in batches at the start of each semester and then every few weeks. You’ll get an email from the board once you’re paired.
Can I choose my buddy?
You can name a preference in the form, for example someone who has done a specific committee or speaks your language. We try to follow it but can’t promise.
What if it doesn’t work out?
Write to info@hd-mun.org and we’ll find you a new buddy, no questions asked.
How experienced do I need to be to become a buddy?
At least one conference as a delegate. Chairing experience is a plus but not required.
